Easy Tuna Tartare


1 pound sushi grade tuna, finely chopped
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon soy sauce
The juice of one small lime
1/4 teaspoon wasabi powder
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Optional additions: chopped green onion, avocado, minced jalapeƱo, diced jicama.


Mix all ingredients in a bowl until well combined. Adjust seasoning if necessary and serve immediately or refrigerate until ready.
Tips: as an appetizer, serve on individual spoons, on crackers or toasted bread, or on sliced cucumbers.


This easy tuna tartare recipe can be made in about 10 minutes and can easily be adapted to other types of fish such as salmon, hamachi, even crab and shrimp. When eating raw fish it is important to always buy sushi grade. Always ask your fish monger to be sure.
